Last Saturday my grandpa's brother passed away. Today was his funeral. Last night my grandpa announced that we are leaving at 6am today for the funeral. I was so confused how the decision was taken. I listened & realised I am designated chauffeur. Now funerals are a no no for me.
My aunt called me& we led a gag team delegation to my grandmother. We registered our concerns and the fact that grandpa himself has a cough. Grandma went& addressed him. He didn't respond& all of us wondered what his gameplan will be in the morning. I was up at 6am yo observe.
The household was silent, people sleeping without movement. Good sign. Now I thought shu he might not be in a good mood the whole day. He woke up a little deflated but still chatty. By the end of the day he was fine. My grandpa is 85& grandma 89, so there's no risking them.
Especially where we can help avoid such. Ever since I have been here, we haven't received any visitors. My grandparents are as vigilant as they can be but I guess that are moments of weakness - church related& family gatherings. We had to cancel an event for the 28th.
It's very difficult to stand up to my grandpa when his mind is made up. He is a man of great resolve but also highly thoughtful& respects my grandmother's deputations. It's our channels of getting things done. Long story short - COVID-19 managment needs firmness even in families.
