THREAD: Julian Leppert is a former councillor for the BNP and a current councillor for Anne Marie Waters' party "For Britain".
Waters denies that her party is racist, or even right-wing, but simply "the decent, fair, common sense majority". 1/9

Yet for a "decent", "fair", beacon of "common sense" - ex-BNP councillor Leppert unsurprisingly seems to have something of a soft spot for the late neo-Nazi "legend", national front activist, and holocaust denier, Richard Edmonds. 2/9
He also appears to have been a fan of former Front National leader Jean-Marie LePen, a notorious bigot with multiple convictions for inciting racial hatred and one for "minimising" the holocaust. 3/9
Antisemitic conspiracists seem to be something of a go-to source of information for ex-BNP councillor Leppert. He's not shy of favourably quoting David Irving, and apparently his favourite book this year was a 9/11 truther manuscript written by an outspoken holocaust denier. 4/9
Ex-BNP councillor Leppert is himself an avid 9/11 truther who's pumped out his fair share of conspiratorial nonsense on the topic, just like a "fair", "decent", "common sense politician" wouldn't. 5/9
Batshit conspiracism appears to be a staple of ex-BNP councillor Leppert's "fair, decent, common sense" approach to politics.
Here he is running interference for far-right terrorist Thomas Mair by publicly claiming that Jo Cox was "far more likely" killed by a Corbynite. 6/9

Unsurprisingly for an ex-BNP councillor, Leppert doesn't appear overly keen on people with darker skin than himself. Leppert was sanctioned by Epping Forest council this year for stating that "ideally" the district would be "whites only". 7/9
"There is nothing racist about loving Britain and putting its interests first" says Anne Marie Waters.
Yet it should be pretty easy to spot where Leppert is coming from politically. Waters however scoffs at the notion that he is a racist, in a podcast celebrating his win. 8/9

'For Britain' reject the notion that they are a far-right party.
If that's the case, perhaps they might explain why they want to push people like ex-BNP councillor Leppert into positions of influence in Britain. 9/9
