The Social Dilemma movie is more concerning to me for the motives of the filmmakers than what they're supposedly exposing.
My first concern arose when Tristan Harris shares his casual anti-white-man hatred and scapegoating. The filmmakers add evil puppeteer fingers for the evil white men that are held responsible for all the world's ills.
Anyone who's worried about time wasted on social media, should be skeptical of a Netflix produced movie... let's just say slight conflict of interests eh?

But we can let that slide.
What I can't let slide is their repeated suggestions of need for regulation and things that echo what Tristan said on the Rogan podcast: "If we can't agree on what's true, for example, you can't solve any problem."

This sounds psychopathic to me. Though casually so.
It's worse when you see the context of marginalizing vaccine skepticism and marginalizing other ideas that get labeled as "conspiracy theory".

So what do those behind TSD actually want to do?
I recognize that social media corporations massively manipulate the truth and support outright lies but I think we're still free to choose to use other platforms and sites. You can make your own ad free social network in five minutes if you want or create private telegram groups.
It seems that instead of simply putting forth some ad free versions of various social networking platforms... they essentially want to regulate all digital communication.
It sounds "nice" to say "Imagine a world built on humane technology that operates for the common good, strengthening our capacity to tackle our biggest global challenges." but it also doesn't when you realize they've decided anti-vaxxers and conspiracy theorists are their fear.
What does social media technology have to do with tackling our biggest global challenges?

It's about convincing people of something... and THEY think that they already have the truth and simply must convince everyone else and then things will be okay... sort of.
But... the reality is that they've got depressive loser attitudes (like most environmentalist/leftists) and they're not really engaged in tackling those big challenges.
Their hope is that everyone can stop being skeptical of science so that everyone will get vaccinated and give up gas powered vehicles so that the world will be saved and then of course have less children if any so the world can be saved... because science.
They want a monopoly on truth that's regulated by the masses/government.

It's insane.

Just build or promote different tools.

AND prosecute companies for actual crimes they commit which are many.
But instead it's sort of this vague problem of people being too good at programming reward loops and making good advertisements.
