This country has officially experienced a 0.1% extinction event. And we're still very much in the middle of it. The US also has a death rate by population about 3 times greater than the global metric.
This is an astonishing failure of 'policy', or to speak more generally in terms that do not mandate a governing entity (the state), it is a failure of our social contracts.
We need more 'state'-less social contracts if we're going to survive the future. We need community. We need mutual aid. We need decentralized finance and governance, and technology solutions, yes, but it starts on your block. Learn your neighbors names.
Engaging in your community is actually one of the most radical and effective acts of defiance against the state that the average person can personally and sustainably perform. By investing in each other, we divest from authoritarianism.
