Thinking real hard about the whole "let's make our own!" argument some folks make about nerd spaces. Except if we leave (we being non cis, straight non men) we'll just have even more toxic spaces than we do now.
Also thinking about the misogynoir in geek spaces, where a lot of Black Men are just as bad, if not worse than their white dude bro counterparts in gatekeeping and shit. It's just exhausting, entirely to deal with it on all sides.
Thinking of folks who immediately want to ask you shit like oh yeah if you're a Street Fighter fan, what's Ryu's favorite colour and inseam in the gi of his one off, never seen again costume from that one edition only released in Japan.
When you don't know such super specific lore/details it justifies their whole women, queers, non-women, non-men are fakety fake gamers and don't belong. Same shit in TTRPG spaces. But that's a side convo for later.

Back to the topic however...
When you make your own, a few things happen. Some folks love it, they wanna support and see you succeed. Some folks who ain't kinfolks get salty cause their unknown to anyone but themselves project isn't getting the same shine but don't acknowledge your hustle. Or...
They put out their thing, and it's not as well recieved or noticed and then it's all about how Black folks can't get support. But they put out a mediocre product & want to ride the but if you don't support me you a racist line to guilt folks into backing an ok thing. Except...
That's not a way to do business either. It feels like there's no good way to "make our own" or navigate within the existing ecosystem of games, etc that didn't consider that we game too. So it turns to this cycle of don't like it leave! Make your own! Until...
People realize that games, even tabletop games take a lot of time, people, money and resources. Also marketing savvy, and time and such. Build it and they'll come, or the scattershot I'm Black, you Black so you gotta support method doesn't work either.
But that's always the answer when we want inclusion in anything.

It doesn't matter
Why you gotta make it about race?!
Go make your own!

I don't have an answer, just thinking outloud which is usually a mistake on the bird app. Oh well.
