I’m going to try to be pragmatic after that. Regardless of what happens, Roy is a lovely bloke & he will go down as a Palace legend. However, I honestly believe it’s time for a change. This squad needs a rebuild & that requires a younger manager to oversee it. #cpfc
This season started very positively, both in terms of results & Roy’s tactics. The signing of Eze & Ferguson were a step in the right direction. Mitchell at left back was a welcome addition to an ageing back 4 which needed freshening up. #cpfc
Jairo starting in centre midfield was a breath of fresh air. A midfielder keen to get his foot on the ball & pass forwards rather than sidewards or backwards - with those passes being meaningful & effective. These new subtle changes of personnel coupled with a change to a more...
...attacking formation, with Wilf playing through the middle - we had initial success & had a great start to the new season. Everything looked really promising under Roy after an awful finish to last season & a largely unentertaining 2019/20 campaign. #cpfc
Despite all that, things have gone to being very promising to depressing. What really worries me is firstly - Roy showing vs Burnley & Newcastle that he has next to nothing when Zaha is injured. In over 3 years, he’s not come up with a successful plan without Wilf. #cpfc
Secondly, & most worrying - he’s decided to completely disregard the early promising performances from the young players who came in & did themselves proud - instead reverting to players who are arguably past their best. Dann. Luka & McArthur partnership. PvA. #cpfc
Roy had a chance to make several changes today after the mauling vs Liverpool & reintroduce the likes of Jairo & Mitchell. However, he chose not to. That speaks volumes to me. He’s too set in his ways. Thanks for everything Roy - but it’s time for a change. #cpfc
