1) Zim is the responsible party for the D, more than anyone else. Perhaps I’m taking it out of context, but throwing your D under the bus after y’all set them up the way you did as an org is pretty shitty.
The more you think about it, the more it appears there’s no org direction and vision for the Vikings. What kind of team are they? They hamstrung themselves by signing stars and are underneath a massive qb contract.
The only conclusion you can draw is the orgs decision making fatal flaw is extreme hubris. How else can you explain letting Linval walk, all CBS walk, starting only rookie CBS (who are always bad) and noone and thinking you are going to compete for the playoffs?
The message is really ‘we though we were in a place we are not, thought we could circumvent our weaknesses and compete and we failed’ that would be a fire able narrative as opposed to just blaming the players.
The #vikings are about to be the Wild, destined for bear playoff misses or first round exits until they harness a direction and some efficiency with their roster. Rudolph and Barr gotta go - they are inefficient contracts. They should have traded anything not nailed down.
Now what do you have? There are so many holes to fill on this roster and now other folks are going to need to get paid (like O’Neill). Lost faith in Zim and Spielman personally.
