Ok I just wanna talk how Yu probably has some of the best character development in the Love Live franchise, let's start with her origin name.

Some of the few early illustration of Yu showed her with barely any emotions at all, I was afraid that she was going to be a very bland protagonist as a whole.
Well...I was proved heavily wrong on my own predicament, when Hinaki was announced to be her seiyuu, god I was legitimately screaming and jumping all over the place since I've always been a huge fan of her.
Her voice fits Yu so much, and gosh when her voice was revealed I was like "Yeah this is Yu! her enthusiastic persona and supportive attitude from SIFAS really translated well to the anime"
Now, let's start from episode 1, one of her very recognizable line is "If I could support someone chasing their dreams, maybe something would start for me too"
In the end of episode 1, she promised Ayumu that she will always support her no matter what happens, thus began her journey of "Supporting others dream, and Yu will finally found something that she wanted to do"

We saw that Yu was really inspired by Setsuna's performance and idol in general so she began learning to play piano, and her first bit of that certain melody is none other than CHASE! itself.

Episode 9 showed that something really did start for Yu! when at the end of the episode after Karin's performance, you can really see from how her eyes look at Diver fes and basically like she really did accomplish not only her dreams, but also for the others!
