The attitudes of Muslim twitter have only formed as much as they have because social media is like the one “safe” place for them to openly express the batshit insane views many of them do hold or grow up around but can’t vocalize in real life without backlash.
there are so many people that grow up in these communities, some who are still Muslims, some who don’t identify as that anymore, who have voiced for so long that these views exist&they’re told it’s absurd only to see now that all that shit is real & even stupider than we thought

In Islamic republics or whatever you can voice whatever insane fundamentalist shit you want openly and get no backlash if anything you probably get turned into a hero of some sort. Everyone not living in those countries who shares similar attitudes has Twitter lol

It’s not like honor killings & other kinds of violence weren’t rampant in the UK or even in the US before. Those attitudes were always a thing but spaces where u heard justifications for that type of thing didn’t extend beyond the occasional shit khutba at the mosque.
Now There’s jackals that can make whole threads justifying it vaguely or supporting it in quick twitter blurbs that are easy to digest along with a stupid two line Arabic verse that they attribute to the Quran or some bloated scholar.
