20 Most Important Lesson of 2020

// A THREAD //
It was a fast and weird year.

The year of change.

My life changed a lot and I learned even more.

Here are the 20 most important lessons - which will shape the upcoming decade for me.
1. Systems Are Better Than Goals

In the past, I failed many of my goals.

This year I've realized that it could be caused by the fact that they were goals, not systems.

Thanks, @ScottAdamsSays for helping me realize this.

2. Use Notion More

@NotionHQ is definitely the most useful tool I've discovered this year.

I use it for:

- Twitter
- Freelance CRM
- Content Creation
- Website project management

And for personal use, it's completely free.
3. Email Is Immortal

This year we saw on social sites:

- Shadow bans
- Normal bans
- Decreasing reach (e.g. during the presidential election)

That's why I believe building an independent audience e.g. email list is mandatory.

4. Crypto Awaits Turbulent Times

Due to the coronavirus, inflation is enormous.

$9 Trillion of the new dollars were printed - that is 22% money in circulation.

Cryptocurrency - especially BTC, may be an effective antidote to this because of its finite amount.
5. Gig Economy Is The Future

Corona showed how unstable "stable" jobs could be.

It's was also a strong hint that the future is:

- online focused
- skill-focused
- contract focused

Skilled individuals will do enormously well.

Become one.
6. Freelance Is The Way

You:
- develop a high-income skill
- can easily diversify your income
- as you solve meaningful problems for the customer, you're hard to replace

Just a couple of reasons why I believe you should think about it.

7. Flexibility Rulez

Offline business --> Online Bussiness
Library --> Grandparents house
Restaurant --> Home cooking
Gym --> Kettlebell at home

If aren't able to react flexibly and relatively quickly you will have an extremely hard time thriving in our age.
8. Quality > Quantity (Content)

The number of content created on the internet was bigger than ever before (as every year.)

Quantity alone is obsolete.

Quality wins.
9. You Need An Inner Compass

The world may turn crazy fast.

You need a solid mission and vision that will allow you to stay positive even in times when it seems it's almost impossible
10. Learn How To Use Online Leverage #nocode

You don't need to learn how to code to use powerful online tools.

You just need to
1. Define the problem
2. Google/Reddit the solution

This year showed me how powerful this approach may be.
11. Luck Favors the Bold

At the beginning of this year, I decided to become a full-time web designer.

Today, almost exactly one year later - I am.

The main reasons: Heavy uncertain action-taking (esp. at the beginning).
12. Don't Let The Critics Paralyze You

I'm 23 and this was the first year when I ACTUALLY started doing something and preserved.

Not listening to pessimists and critics helped a ton.

Once the social life "re-opens" I will be much pickier about who I will spend my time with.
13. Stop Drinking Alcohol Has No Downside

Facts.

Give it a try.
14. If it's (too) Hard You're Doing It Wrong

Making a living by something you genuinely enjoy is the best productivity hack I've ever discovered.
15. Reflect often

When I did the results were massive.

In 2021, I want to do it regularly.
--> already blocked all next year's Sundays for this purpose.
16. Direction > Speed

I used to think speed is everything.

This year, when I decided to start completely from scratch, I've realized that the direction is actually way more important.

Valuable lesson.
17. You're Much More Capable Than You Think

If I will tell myself one year ago, what I will be able to overcome this year I won't believe it.

That's why I won't tell myself what I can not to do ever again.

I hope.
18. Most Restrictions Are Self-built

Realized this when talkíng with my friends and listening to hundreds of "reasons" why something is not possible for them.

Then I realized I am the same - in the principle.

The next year will try to fight this tendency mercilessly.
19. There Are Thousands of People Online Who Will Pay You Generously For Solving a Meaningful Problem For Them

I knew this before.

But with learning web design I truly understood this.

Experience cannot be faked.
20. Audience first

The quality of my tweets is similar or maybe even worse than it was when I got 100 followers.

Yet, back then I got 2 likes a day from my friends, and now is Twitter one of my income streams.

Powerful mindset shift.
