I understand how ‘ridiculous’ that Hisense clause in that Kotoko deal comes across as but sponsors have their targets/motives too. You take it or you leave it. Simple!
For many GH companies, the goal is to reach their target market, get the numbers without losing their appeal from among fans outside their partner club’s. That’s why StarLife or MTN for eg would do Hearts and Kotoko. Same accounts for why many corporate entities don’t venture...
...at all. You’re probably only able to sponsor one of the top 2 clubs but for fear of ‘antagonizing’ (lack of a better expression) the other set of fans, they’d refrain or at best sponsor a smaller club for some visibility.
Kotoko under KK Sarpong were almost through to landing a huge deal with Symbion (Power)Energy. That was Kotoko’s move but to agree, Kotoko had to rope in the possibility of Symbion offering Hearts the same deal. That’s how they wanted to enter Ghana’s fledgling Energy space then.
Point is, it’s easier for you to, from across your phone’s screen, hurl insults and impugn on the intelligence of those who have to negotiate deals and make decisions. Do you turn down a great offer bcos a single clause is ‘not nice’?
That’s Hisense wanting to exclusively partner your club but just like every business entity, wants to come across as reaching/benefitting others. I’d wish it wasn’t so but sometimes it is and you have to accept it. 🤝
