to Lava and Kusha in this place. Foot hills of Avani hills has 4 temples dedicated to lord shiva built by Nolamba dynasty and later developed by Cholas, Gangas and Vijayanagara empire. Temples are supposed to be built by Rama, Bharatha, Lakshmana and Shatrugna(2)

Post Ashwamedha Yaga battle with Lava and Kusha. There are inscriptions in the walls of the temple linking the origin to Nolamba dynasty. There are refrences that this place finds mention in Bana inscriptions of 339AD. The hills have valmiki cave, lakshmana pond and Sita Maata(3)

On top of the temple there is Sita Maata temple and the locals say that during Ram Janma Bhoomi pujan this place was also shown. There's a legend that Sita Maata entred mother earth in this particular place. There is also Sharadamba temple in the base where Aksharabyasa(4)
