I find that white people are often very self blaming when it comes to these issues,—Yasmine refers to this as "white guilt"—it's very clear it comes from a good place, but it's not necessary! As Yasmine suggests, the West should triage who it takes in, not just anyone.
I agree with her that good candidates include: ex Muslims, gay Muslims, feminist women, reformist Muslims, other persecuted communities by Muslims (such as Yazidis, Christians, etc.). These are people who are more likely to want to integrate.
What Europe is experiencing right now are the consequences of allowing in populations that follow ideologies (i.e., fundamentalist Islam) that are not just the opposite of Western values, but actively hostile to them.
I wish I could say differently, as this is deeply embarrassing to me as an Arab, immigration, myself. But it's the reality. There are those of us who genuinely do want to live under Western law. Unfortunately, there are a great many more who do not, and only want Western benefits
Islamists are aware that Westerners care deeply about human rights; Islamists like Erdogan, etc., are aware that they can exploit this by supporting immigration into Europe, thereby creating a large Islamist voting bloc. This is called using secularism against itself.
As it stands, the Western left are also "useful idiots," as it were. They're using concepts like "Islamophobia" to shut down conversation, and allow Muslims to cocoon themselves without criticism they'd get if they were any other group.
I agree with Yasmine also when she talks about the disappointing reactions to Jihadist violence—it's silence now. That is hugely alarming, and no small part of that silence is fear of being "cancelled" by the left for "Islamophobia."

1. Continue to criticise Islam,
2. Ignore the left's accusations of Islamophobia entirely,
3. Continue to support immigration policies that screen heavily for culture fit.
