So far, the 2nd major Kadhimi-fasa'il confrontation (AAH) was less dramatic than the 1st (KH). MK also compromised but factors that led to this outcome likely differed on 3 levels: 1) GZ protection, 2) AAH's political involvement, 3) regularization of MK-fasa'il mediation. 1/4
MK enhanced security aspects pertaining to sec. leadership of GZ protection. The ICTS's confront. w/ KH led to laying siege over ICTS facilities & his personal residence. New measures might have established some deterrence but should AAH try, MK's measures will be tested. 2/4
AAH's pol. involvement via Sadiqon puts some limitations on its actions + scrutiny (AAH's Na'eem Aboudi used 'rule of law' in his tweet). Pol. involv. help reap lobbying benefits but limit action. KH & others out of the CoR benefit from Fateh w/o having to give up leeway. 3/4
The practice of involving political/paramilitary figures such as Badr's Ameri, Araji (Badr background), and State of Law's Maliki is becoming more regular, therefore, all sides' acquaintance w/ the process may help quicker de-escalation. But MK pays politically for mediators. 4/4
