She could have gone for a different angle here.

It was referred to as a "miracle"; a positive connotation.

The results are surprising given we STILL don't have a national COVID plan. COVIDSafe was a flop. I can't think of another attempt to do anything. https://theshot.net.au/general-news/what-does-scott-morrison-do/
"Morrison rolled out income support to people who couldn’t work during lockdowns, or lost their jobs."

Why not add a sentence or two pointing out that this income support is now being rolled back?

Better yet, why not speak to someone who has been ruined by the lack of support?
Or maybe speak to someone who has been affected by the low levels of welfare for years?

Or even just linked back to The Guardian's own body of work on this topic, given they've been covering this excellently for a while now?
"Australia suppressed the first wave of the pandemic, and when a second wave broke out in Victoria, that curve was flattened too."

As a Melbournian, this one really pisses me off.

It makes it sound like Morrison is the one who flattened our curve. https://theshot.net.au/general-news/who-is-the-prime-minister-of-the-victorian-part-of-australia/
But it fails to point out that this was in SPITE of the federal government.

They spent all of lockdown urging us to reopen and undermining Andrews at every turn. They even made a point of rolling out Victorian members to do this. https://theshot.net.au/general-news/we-deserve-this-moment-but-dont-forget-who-helped-and-who-hindered/
I would have liked the piece much more if it had added more of the above context - not necessarily deep, but an additional sentence to a couple of places or even just linking back to The Guardian's own work.
Instead, it focused on a "miracle", which is a gross framing given the way the federal government has done absolutely nothing this year.

The article is not as bad as the headline makes it seem, but... it's still really not great.
