14 million unemployed people will lose benefits because of this delay but, on the other hand, the president’s tweets aren’t getting enough likes. https://twitter.com/LindseyGrahamSC/status/1342637767281565696
It is not my style to emote about this — the president has always been like this, even people who voted for him know it, it’s priced in — but man is that selfish.
I am annoyed at people who have bought into the narrative that he is fighting for bigger checks.
I did some interviews recently about the Bush-Obama transition, which happened amid an even worse economic crisis, and one thing that happened is the Bush team did a stopgap auto bailout to buy time for Obama to do a permanent one, not on terms the Bush team would have liked.
It’s just so different from how Trump is approaching this transition.
And Bush had made a lot of terrible mistakes in the lead-up to that. But in the moment, they were trying to do what they could to let the next team to come in and fix things as they saw it.

One thing that I think eased the transition is that John McCain’s fall 2008 shenanigans (like the “campaign suspension”) annoyed the Bush and Obama organizations equally. https://mobile.twitter.com/bdquinn/status/1342676866881171456
