Adachi to Shimamura

TLDR; An anime with a beautiful depiction of how a person experiences their first love. It's as slowburn as it can get and there really was no clear romance progression between the two leads yet I somehow didn't mind it at all. I definitely recommend this! 🙋‍♂️
I tend to dislike romance animes with no clear romance progression for a whole season because what even is the point of watching romance anime when there actually is no romance in it, right? In the case of Adashima though it is also exactly like that however, it is handled and
executed really well. I think that what made it better than it is supposed to be is that the inner monologues the characters have are paired with beautiful visuals to them which helps convey their feelings much better and also draws in the viewer as well.
Adachi and Shimamura's dynamic is one of a kind and I really loved it. It might not even be an exaggeration to say that their personalities are a perfect pair for this slowburn of a romance story.
Adachi's one sided love for Shimamura is made out not to be that obvious despite Adachi actually liking Shimamura a lot. Adachi's personality does mask her love for Shimamura quite well with her being a 'loner' person which Shinamura tends to perceive as just Adachi being Adachi.
On the other hand, Shimamura being indifferent at times doesn't come off as annoying unlike characters from other series that are portrayed like this. Shimamura being dense to some extent actually adds charm to her dynamic with Adachi. It makes the slowburn even better.
To end this thread, again, my favorite part of this anime is how it depicts 'first love'. Being a bit possesive, being jealous of someone, getting flustered a lot around the other person, you name it. Adachi to Shimamura definitely has it and delivers on it as well!
Kindly note though that this is all my personal experience on it and consuming media and how you perceive it matters from person to person so I might come off as being a bit hype about it but it can definitely be not the case for some. Anyway, I really do recommend this anime 👨‍💻
