Sri Kurumba Bhagavathy temple or Kodungallur Bhaghavathy temple is one of the ancient temples in Kerala. The temple is dedicated to Bhadrakali Amman. This is one of the 64 Bhadrakali temples in Kerala.
After the creation of Kerala by Parasurama, a demon Daruka caused disturbance. In order to kill this evil demon,  Parasurama prayed to Shiva. As advised by Shiva, Parasurama did Pratishta of Shakti Devi, Mata Parashakthi herself. Many stories tells, it was Bhadrakali who killed
demon Daruka. The poojas are conducted under direct instructions from Sri Bhagavathi Herself. Five 'Sri Chakras' are installed here by Adi Shankaracharya, are believed to be the main source of the powers of the temple.
In Garbhagriham, Devi is of about
7 feet tall made of Jackfriut tree. Devi is seen with 8 hands. One hand holding head of demon Daruka. We can also see Sapthamatha Sannidhi here.The Bharani festival at the Kodungallur Bhagawati temple is important festival here.
