Some of the hardest working people I have ever met are children of the wealthy. Comfort is hard to maintain and the fear of losing it is a catalyst. Wealth is also a process that their parents pass down. It is not just about accumulation but less dissipation and efficiency.
That rich people’s kids are lazy and privileged trope is reductive and largely anecdotal. You don't need to be carrying burdens openly to be seen as working hard. Wealth is also relative, there are many levels. My rich cousins went to a school where they were amongst the poorest.
My uncle once told me that there is no crime at all to being poor. The only thing posterity won't forgive you for is to be rich once and then become poor. Society never judges such people fairly, they are seen as bigger ”failures” than those who never became rich.
This is what powers most wealthy people and what they try to pass on to their kids. It is more work ethic than the privilege of not starting from the bottom. It doesn't mean that privilege doesn't exist, but it is typically overrated and people discount everything else.
Collective societal privilege also exists. The environment where you grow up can give you the security to thrive. I believe that is the greatest privilege to strive for and it is the easiest to achieve. Just stop voting for idiots in elections.
