*One* person with Covid symptoms went to work in Oregon and this led to two outbreaks, 300 quarantined and 7 dead. It’s a “superspreader action” that many of us relate to - working thru illness is the norm https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/12/23/workplace-outbreak-oregon-covid/
As I discussed with @kimbrunhuber, I called out sick recently and felt horrible about it - Covid compels us to take even mild symptoms very seriously in a way that is NOT at all habitual https://twitter.com/kimbrunhuber/status/1342386241703182338
If employers don’t support sick days, if people risk lost income or job losses for calling in aick, if there’s a culture of “suck it up and come in,” if there aren’t policies about being at work when ill, it’s setting us up for these kinds of events
And of course they can’t do these things without support from the government. Businesses of all kinds are hurting and failing and that is not a set up for a spirit of abundance around employee leave.
