Ole schools Bielsa!

(A short thread highlighting Ole's Mctominay Masterstroke)

Myself and many others that saw the double pivot of McFred expected a game where Mctominay would screen the back four, break up play and keep it simple in possession

Little did we know...

#MUFC
Leeds Formation -

4141

Leeds set up in their usual formation of a 4141 with Phillips just in front of the back 4. His role in short is to screen the back four and act as a quarterback in possession which he often does well.
Manchester United's Formation -

4231

A typical set up however many were surprised with some of the inclusions such as Daniel James starting. However, Ole had a plan and the players executed it to the T.

1 - Leeds Press
2 - Mctominay's swivel and pass
3 - Shaw drives forward
Phillips shows for the ball, however vacates his central position in doing this. The Leeds attack breaks down. United counter instantly. Mctominay sees the ocean of space in front of him.
Mctominay's 1st Goal

Mctominay drives into the vacated space and finishes off with a wonderful strike. (See image)
Mctominay's 2nd Goal

1- Mctominay sees his opponent and a potential opening.
2-Sets off early gathering full speed.
3-The opponent is flat footed.
4- Mctominay superbly adjusts his feet and slots it in.
Bielsa was blown away by Ole's Mctominay Masterstroke!

Bielsa himself probably expected Mctominay to sit back, whilst Phillips marked Bruno. Mctominay running beyond the ball caused havoc and was often free as it was unexpected.

I'll sip to this 😉
