When Isaiah prophesied about Jesus Christ’s birth almost 700 years before He was born, there was a deep darkness saturating the world during that time.

The nations surrounding Israel were sacrificing infants and children to Molech, Baal, and Ashterah. The darkness was heavy

700 years later the Romans ruled the world and there was darkness over the land. Life was cheap and the life of children even cheaper. The Romans abused their child slaves in the same way the elite abuse children today.

Jesus Christ was sent by God into this darkness to expose

the evil deeds and to conquer the fallen deities which were ruling over the world. When John said light has come into the darkness and the darkness could not comprehend it this was the context in which John was writing.

In this day and age we face the same evil but we have confidence that Jesus Christ is in control and Jesus Christ had defeated these fallen deities. We are still in the battle but we are on the winning side. This battle will ultimately be won when Jesus Christ returns to earth

but until that day, we fight to expose the darkness and conquer the enemy on this earth.
