Watching the Bridgertons is going to be fun with Meghan & Harry in the back of my mind. Meg rolled in & upset centuries worth of marriage scheming & took the Prince with her.

It also highlights how some of the women in today's modern "royal" circles are still raised to be marriageable & nothing more. Their interests/career are just things to do while awaiting marriage & wealth increase.
I met girls like this in college. Wealthy upper class, expensive cars, saying:
"I'm just here to meet my husband."
I didn't even know that was a thing or a life option.
"I'm just here to meet my husband."
I didn't even know that was a thing or a life option.
So imagine how upsetting it is for a working class girl from California, who was crawling through the trunk of her car to get in, because the doors wouldn't open anymore just so she could drive to auditions, comes in and marries a Prince.
Which is a nice segway to why wealthy parents are getting caught buying their kids way into school.
They're seeing Prince Harry & King Felipe of Spain marrying working-middle class, educated women quite happily.
Money & name isn't enough.

Even more upsetting is that they have the means to be highly educated and effective but that's not the culture.
It could also be why education is undergoing a class war specifically to keep the poor, working & middle class out because of how competitive they really are.

Anyways, just something I'll keep in mind when watching because I know it will frustrate me to see female characters without personality or ambitions.
It's just the cultural norm at the time.

I'm cackling at this opening. I love that they're showing how ridiculous & uncomfortable the entire ordeal is. #Bridgerton

Yaaas Lady Whistledown's scandal sheets. I do recommend the audiobook, it's also a lot of fun. #Bridgerton

Loving the color schemes for the two families. Definitely tells a story.
Clever way to use modern music without pulling the audience out of the scene completely. #Bridgerton

It's always fun showing up a snob especially handsome ones.

So happy they gave Daphne some fire & spine. This would've been terrible otherwise. #Bridgerton

Good gracious, please get this poor woman off her back. No wonder birthing was so strenuous.
A perfect son while his poor wife bleeds out. #Bridgerton

Funny how their ruse is actually setting up the foundation of a healthy relationship. So much honesty. #Bridgerton

The actress playing Eloise has excellent comic relief timing. Her expressions & inflections alone

Young girls walking into marriage without a hint of sex education, not knowing how pregnancy occurs let alone birthing. #Bridgerton

Penelope is such a sweet character & I love the way they dress her.
Good Lord, I forgot about Simon's father. They're staying true to the book on that point. #Bridgerton

I really miss picnics.

As much as I enjoy these books, its these moments that are so painful.
Women have absolutely no agency, their lives are not considered beyond uplifting the family status.
And even with all that power they have no control over any of what happens to them.

Escándalo! Lord Berbrooke! #Bridgerton

Yas, Mercury putting in that work across the ton.

Julie Andrews voicing Lady Whistledown is just too much

Oh noooooooooooo. Why are these women like this?! #Bridgerton

Whew, Daphne's ignorance about the birds & the bees is going to make for some fireworks later.
