How Nagelsmann‘s system made Werner look like a world beater

A THREAD
Before people tell me Werner was that good even before Nagelsmann took over:

19/20: 45 Games 34 Goals 13 Assists(Nagelsmann in charge)
18/19: 49 Games 22 Goals 10 Assists
17/18: 54 Games 23 Goals 10 Asissts
So first of all Nagelsmann used most of the time (when everyone was fit) a two striker formation.

mostly the 4222 or 352 lined up like this:
In those 2 striker formations the key element was the combination of Werner and a “heavy” striker who picks up and hold the ball. These two were the ones who brought Werner into action
There is a clear pattern: It’s always the other striker who created the space Werner needs to take advantage of his speed. Those were just 4 examples leading to a goal but if you replay Leipzig games you will see many attempts from Poulsen and Schick trying to create space with
direct trough balls to Werner or pulling out several defenders by shielding the ball.
Another important aspect was the way Nagelsmann told Werner to position him self while attacking. Werner often went to the side line behind the fullbacks until they lose sight of him. Often the DMs in the centre had so much trouble defending the skilful players in the centre
that the defenders are forced to move out of the line and press the attacker resulting in space for Werner who then received a trough ball to get behind the backline. (btw Werner missed a sitter in that situation)
Here is another example from the Tottenham game in which the fullback (Aurier) had to press because the DM is having trouble (I think we can all imagine what pass would’ve come next if Schick wasn’t fouled.
But the by far most important thing what made Werner such a great striker at Leibzig was that he only had to do what he is capable of...Werner never had the task to cross, play genius passes or to win a 1 v 1 by dribbling trough...thats also why Werner is never a winger
or lone striker like he is forced to play at Chelsea. I know Leipzig also played a front 3 with Werner on the wing last season but that was just due to injuries...he just played in the wing position in those games because of his play style as a striker (sticking to de sideline
behind the fullbacks etc.)

So fucking stop calling Bundesliga talent a false talent or whatever just get yourself a Manager who sees the qualities of a player and then knows how to use him
