The *serious* left critique of #forcethevote is that the pro-force camp doesn't understand how power works. But the anti-force camp thinks that "playing nice w/ Pelosi" will prevent leftists from being *punished* for crossing corporate Dems: eg they'll get their committee seats.
I think if you understand how power works, you understand that Pelosi doesn't oppose the squad because they aren't *nice* or because they disagree on policy. It's because her power is derived from corporate fundraising which runs completely opposed to a left agenda.
If anything is "voluntarism," it's thinking that if the squad is nice enough to Pelosi, that will advance the left agenda. At best, it earns us stagnation on important issues like M4All. Meanwhile, 68k a year die, and 15 mil are kicked off their healthcare.
Hearing *leftists* say that forcing a floor vote for medicare during a global pandemic for all is "purity politics" when 88% of Democrats support it and Democrats have the house is truly upsetting.
