Celebrating non-Muslim festivities and congratulating them

A thread đŸ§”
Islam is a complete religion and we as Muslims have our own religious festivities and days of celebration.

It is haram to celebrate non-Muslim holidays and congratulate them due to the following.
Ibn Al Qayyim (RA) said:

“Congratulating the kuffaar on the rituals that belong only to them is haraam by consensus, as is congratulating them by saying ‘May you enjoy your festival’...”

{Book Source: Ahkaam Ahl al-Dhimmah}
You are congratulating someone for believing in other than Allah...

Ibn al Qayyim goes on to say:

“Whoever congratulates a person for his disobedience or bid’ah or kufr exposes himself to the wrath and anger of Allaah."
Our religion is perfect. It is complete, so we don’t need to involve ourselves in anything else.

“... This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islaam as your religion . . ."

{5:3}
The Prophet (PBUH) said:

"Whoever imitates a people is one of them." - {Sunan Abi dawud - Sahih}

If you celebrate Christmas, Easter etc, then you are the same as the disbelievers who celebrate it.
Shaykh Al Islam Ibn Taymiyah said:

"Imitating them in some of their festivals implies that one is pleased with their false beliefs and gives them the hope that they may have the opportunity to mislead the weak."

{Iqtidaa’ al-siraat al-mustaqeem mukhaalifat ashaab al-jaheem}
Abd’Allaah ibn al-‘Aas said:

“Whoever lives in the land of the mushrikeen and celebrates their New Year and their festivals, and imitates them until he dies, he will be a loser on the Day of Resurrection. “
Shaykh Abd al-‘Azeez ibn Baaz (RA) said:

“It is not permissible for any Muslim man or woman to join the Christians, Jews or other kaafirs in their festivals, rather that must be avoided...”

{Majmoo’ Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn Baaz, 6/405}
Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (RA) said:

“Similarly it is forbidden for the Muslims to imitate the kuffaar by holding parties on these occasions, or exchanging gifts, or distributing sweets or other foods...”
So to sum up, stay away from festivities that have not been mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah.

May Allah guide us all onto the straight path.
