what i learned from working on eating habits:

sugar is a hell of a drug. i gained a lot more respect for it in this context

i needed lots of trial and error and trial again to create meaningful change

my eating habits are tied directly into my environment

dieting as it is commonly known now seems like nonsense that detracts and distracts from responsibility. i need to consciously enact change in my environment, any diet is merely a tool to help guide that

cooking my own meals feels much more rewarding when they're nourishing

i learned how to better listen to my body and how it relates to what food i had recently consumed. a crash after a meal? usually because i consumed excess carbs and sugar. steady energy throughout the day? usually because i fasted or ate a high protein breakfast

having sugar in the pantry at all times made this exercise a lot more beneficial. i strengthened my ability to live with the temptations in my environment. no more crises in the bakery section, i could simply confront the impulse right then and there in the kitchen

i gained a lot more respect for desserts. i now feel that they're a very sometimes thing, best enjoyed very infrequently and on good occasion. like pancakes tonight.

feeling a level of genuine control over my eating habits is amazing and i feel this will stick with me well enough to help ward off any future sugar / carb addiction spirals a lot more effectively
