-Brad Bird approached Colin after he saw Safety Not Guaranteed in Sundance, they formed a relationship & then he meet Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall, that led to meet Steven Spielberg.

-The first meeting with Steven for JW (known as JP4 at the time) lasted 2 hours.
-Originally Colin's next movie after Safety was going to be The Book of Henry, but he received a call from Frank about JP4.
-In the first meeting Colin expressed why JP didn't should have sequels in the first place, that if we are going to go to a real Jurassic Park, we needed to enter trough the eyes of a child, basically he telled his philosophy about it on a deeper level.
-Colin wanted the movie to be about all this creatures we love from our youth, that are now being corporatized and being used as a profit.
-He wanted to be sure to understand why each movie after Jurassic Park existed, the first question he asked Frank Marshall was, why is this JP4?, after that they found not only a story but a reason why it should exist.
-Dominion and the other movies after Jurassic Park, deal with the repercussions of the decisions we made during the 90's.
-Overall the history of the franchise represented the kind of lesson that you think people would learn and never do again, but as we look at history, people just seem to repeat the same mistakes again and again if there is money on the table.
-Fallen Kingdom is an animal trafficking movie.

-Battle at Big Rock was a proof of concept in a lot of ways, for what Jurassic World is and why the two movies that came before were necessary in order to get to that point.
-Colin was a little dissapointed to the way Fallen Kingdom was received.

-After Fallen Kingdom was done he did feel the need to reach out in a way to part of the audience he felt he was losing and show them what this franchise was for him.
-The filming during the pandemic was challenging, but at the same time amazing in other ways, the way they worked on the film and the cast lived together.
