my god, twitter is so predictable. those jokes from tommy and karl were great. it's not like they had any slurs or anything. i get why you might be surprised about them coming from karl but tommy's entire thing forever has just been an edgelord.
these aren't people who stream to have their every word scrutinized by tens of thousands of people and judged as their unironic opinions. if you don't like it, stop watching them.
but at the end of the day, most of the people seriously offended by this are still gonna watch both people obsessively out of the illusion that their expectation will meet reality
i get that antisemitism is on the rise in america, it's just a raw statistical fact. but who in the world is gonna think, this streamer made a joke about nazis, therefore my antisemitic views are validated. you think any neo-nazis are in those streams???
any neo-nazi hearing about this joke and then showing up to karl or tommy's next stream is gonna instantly think "oh crap, this person isn't on my side in the slightest", and then just leave.scrutinizing jackbox jokes that are SUPPOSED to be edgy or controversial achieves NOTHING
do you really want a stream whereby people can't say a word without spending an hour thinking about it? where a mere party game is scripted?
do you want a stream where they get the prompt "say something a parent could say to scare a child's prom date" or something like that and the edgiest answer you get is "our house has bedbugs" or something like that?
because i've already seen what happens when streamers restrain their authentic selves. not authentic selves that are prejudiced or insensitive towards anyone in the slightest, but authentic selves who are genuine, kind human beings who say things you don't like.
goddammit, the internet sucks. they say "we cool" on the stream then go and write eight paragraphs on how they feel like the streamer owes them an apology even if they're only pressured into it or (as would be the case if tommy says anything) do it to save face.
i'm not saying that anybody's in the position to accept an apology. i totally agree about that. the flaw is thinking that you feel as though someone is owed one by somebody you probably don't have any actual connections to in the slightest. not like they're a friend or coworker
