On Christmas morning in 1989, I gave birth to this beautiful baby girl. I was barely 15y old & unable to give her the care she needed & deserved. We made a plan & carefully chose a couple that wanted more than anything to be parents. After 3 days of snuggles, I kissed her goodbye
Christmas had a different significance after that. There was an empty place in my heart for 18 years, but I knew that she was in good hands with her loving adoptive parents.
Two months after her 18th birthday, I received a phone call that filled that empty place. I got to hear her voice for the 1st time..besides her newborn crys anyway. It was glorious!
We talked for two hours about anything and everything. We had so much in common and even finished each other's sentences. I couldn't wait to meet her!
2 weeks later I got my chance. She had also contacted her birth father, so he & I made a plan once again, and went to meet our birth daughter together. (the original tweet is a pic of us during our reunion)
From the moment we met..again..it was like we'd known each other all along. It was AMAZING! She had such praise & love for her parents and was thankful that she was given a great life. There were quite a few tears shed that night, as you can imagine.
One month later, I brought my boys to her hometown to meet their big sis for the 1st time. Again, glorious.
She'll be 31 years old tomorrow 🥳 I'm so proud of the awesome human being that she's become and so thankful that she has such an open heart. We've built a special relationship and there is no better gift than that for me. Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄
