Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone. On a day like today I think the entire NBA needs to re-evaluate their teams and reference one of Christmas’s longest dynasties - Santa Clause.
Santa has been the owner/ head coach / GM of his team for the entirety of mankind and has not lost a championship that has ever been recorded. In recent years Best Buy and WalMart have tried to take his throne but every year get absolutely demolished come Christmas night.
Back in 1964 Santa had been on an incredible run, having won thousands of championships in a row on Christmas night.
Instead of going with the normal line up and winning another easy championship, Santa turned his entire team over to a non drafted rookie no one had heard of - Rudolph. He made him captain and had him lead his sleight that night and all his teammates (the reindeer) loved him.
That night in 1964 was a turning point for Santa. Initially reporters scoffed at the decision to let Rudolph run the team and predicted an upset loss in the championship.
Instead, Rudolph took the reigns and has lead the franchise to another 56 straight championships after last nights victory once again. Santa in turn has been able to get out of the spotlight a bit, take more vacations, and let Rudolph do the heavy lifting.
To bring it back to the NBA- I think the Lakers, who easily won the championship last year, should take a serious look at letting Lebron take a back seat to myself- Eric Spresser, un-drafted 26 year old rookie out of Division 3 powerhouse, Willamette university.
I’m very confident in my abilities as a playmaker to lead the @Lakers to another championship this year if only they would offer me a chance by signing me to a 6 year guaranteed contract with a multi-million dollar signing bonus.
Sorry for the long Christmas rant, I just hope the @NBA, @Lakers, and perhaps some other NBA franchises take me into consideration when looking at their long term roster plans. Just look at how it worked out for Santa when he handed his team off to an unknown rookie reindeer.
