1/1 - As the year closes, I realise that the act of unearthing pains and patterns from within is an arduous task. One must really commit to the art of healing or it remains just a buzzword. It’s perhaps been the greatest commitment I have made - for myself, to myself.
Here are sm things I have learnt in the course of healing 1) u have to be willing 2) u have to put in the work 3) u have shut your inner critic out when a professional gives you advice 4) you have to show up 5) you must get back on the horse when mentalhealth throws you off it
I’m a first-bencher at therapy, I never miss a day (until an emergency), I do my homework she gives, I am honest in the sessions, I don’t hoodwink her or myself into coming across as a model candidate. I journal. It hurts a lot. But I stick to it.
I also realise everyone won’t understand my healing journey & some may even mock you. But that’s alright. Seeing that as “it’s about them” is key to carrying on. Yes I am aware of my privileges thats why I don’t squander away the opportunities in my healing path.
Finding a life purpose is often the biggest panacea; for me it acts a pill. This year I have gone back to studying & academic rigour & have a hazy plan for the future. That hopefulness really works to shine the light on the inner darkness. Purpose. A higher purpose!
Last, I have added Faith to the mix. Faith does help. There is a lot of wisdom in our ancient texts. I do take out time to pray and meditate. That’s made a world of difference apart from having a handful of people who understand spirituality and religion.
It’s been a painfully invigorating year. If that is a thing!! I have more clarity about myself. I also have a better hold on my perennial existential crisis and a calmer but steadier approach to the future.

Wish you a safe, peaceful, creative and authentic 2021.
