Christmas midnight mass at the De Schark cave, near Margraten, Netherlands. We attended services there in 2011, commemorating that night when US Soldiers & Dutch citizens came together for services in 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge. One of our fondest memories.
The wall on the right is where over 300 soldiers signed their name in charcoal before going to St Vith & Bastogne. Most of them did not see the new year. The Priest at this service in 2011 was an altar boy in 1944. The Dutch hold this service every year.
