True story: A new Muslim family just moved to town and we cooked him a meal to drop off at his house. We had just bought a pecan pie & I thought about throwing it in with the meal but hesitated because I love pecan pie.
Then I thought, if I’d just moved in I’d love a pecan pie, so I asked my wife, should we give them the pie too? And she said of course. So we gave them the pie too.
Tonight, which is a few days later, we ordered some take-out food from a restaurant and when I got home we saw they gave us the wrong food. So I took it back to the restaurant.
When I got to the restaurant they were apologetic about the mistake, and to make up for it they gave me...a free pecan pie. I said, Subhanallah.
When I got home I told my wife, remember how we gave that family the pecan pie? We just got it back. She said, “We got it back double. While you were gone, my sister came by and gave us a pecan pie.” Subhanallah.
When you give charity hoping for Allah’s pleasure, be certain that the wealth written for you will not decrease.

The Prophet ﷺ said, “Charity does not decrease wealth.”

ما نقصت صدقة من مال

And: “Charity is a proof (of faith)”
