If Christ was born in the spring, why do Christians celebrate his birthday on December 25th?

Let's take a look.

The New Testament indicates that Christ was crucified at Passover time, which always happens in the spring. He lived exactly 33 yrs, so, his birth & death month wud be same.

Also, it is mentioned that when Jesus was born, flocks were out in open. No herd owner would leave their animals out in open in Dec-Jan when nights are very cold.

In late 6th century, Pope Gregory ordered missionaries taking xtianity to European Pagans to "not to interfere with any traditional belief or religious observance that can be harmonized with Christianity.” [T Edgar Lyon - Apostasy to Restoration, 1960, p.218]

Yes, read that text again - "not to interfere with any traditional belief or religious observance that can be harmonized with Christianity." Taken directly from Priesthood Manual.

Now you know the reason for xtian missionaries appropriating Hindu practices WO any shame.

Dec 25 was at the heart of the northern European mid-winter festival as it followed a fearful superstition that the sun might disappear completely due to shorter & shorter autumn days and never return.

The coming of the winter solstice dispelled this fear.

6/
People were actually celebrating that the sun would again come back to warm their northern lands.

Xtian missionaries linked this festival with changing "Sun" to God's "Son".

Even the Encyclopedia Britannica 1973 ed states that the observance of Christmas “is attended with secular customs often drawn from pagan sources.”

The copying of pagan traditions is to confuse and convert people - just like "the Jesus Mantra", padres donning Tilak.
