Hello everyone. Since I’ve noticed some confusion on this: There is no ‘democratic centralism’ without ruthless internal critique and a strong democratic structure. The beauty of demcent is steadfast commitment to a consensus everyone had an active and joyful role in shaping.
Democratic centralism arises out of the recognition that growth is only possible by resolving internal contradictions of something. Even if the process is sparked by something external, transformation is based on what’s already inside. Centralism without democracy is...nothing.
Expecting your party members to uphold the results of a secret process with an extremely consequential outcome for someone NOT affiliated with the org, who in fact turned to the org as an attempt to address harm, without asking questions is...not democratic centralism. ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯
Feedback is a gift. It’s the basis of dialectical thinking. It’s the basis of democratic centralism. At a minimum, it requires of each person involved that they have a responsibility to question and a duty to understand. These values are the foundation of a strong party.
