Background on Asian champions Ulsan's appointment of ex-Korea boss Hong Myung-bo:
-Hong, KFA's chief executive, wanted to return to coaching. The KFA asked him to stay.
-Decision to part ways was made in a meeting between KFA president Chung Mong-gyu and Hong couple weeks ago.

Kim Do-hoon, who led Ulsan to their ACL title, agreed with the club to part ways before the ACL re-start. Hong was already on Ulsan's radar as their next manager, but wanted to hold off on the announcement out of respect for Kim and Ulsan's quest to win the continental title.
The main challenge for Hong Myung-bo is to retool the Ulsan squad that'll see several changes with most (or all) of their foreign players likely to leave this winter. A lot of pressure from the start for Hong, who will make his managerial return in a month at the Club World Cup.
I'm expecting Won Du-jae to flourish under the guidance of Hong Myung-bo, who in his playing career played the role of a deep-lying playmaker both at the back of the midfield and in defence for Korea during an age in which Korean football has never seen such a player.
