When I took PQP pt 1, I remember a guest speaker (TDSB admin) saying that being seen by your students at the grocery store they frequent brings them joy and makes them hold a reverence for where they live (especially important for areas targeted as problematic in the media).

I shared this with admin. at an ABR training session. This was met with a snarky “I wouldn’t go to the same grocery store the students shop at”. Somehow, this ind’l concluded that she is better than the racialized students who keep her gainfully employed. This is only one of the

many problematic things that have come out of this person’s mouth during her time at a school (located in a neighborhood targeted by the media).
