a few days i had a stranger send me DM that left me speechless & extremely emotional.

let me explain, a few weeks back i tweeted about my assyrian heritage & birth name joseph deKalaita. a part of me i know almost nothing about & never knew where to start

{a thread}
so miriam, a fellow assyrian, reached out to me with a life changing discovery follow dm conversation:
at this point i’m freaking out and completely stunned. rev. joseph deKalaita!!?? i am not sure if he is a relative of mine yet. not sure how i would even discover that but still pretty eerie

even having a photo of the village where my family came from... words aren’t enough
i’m still trying to process everything & learn more. but this might be one of the coolest & most satisfying discoveries of my life. it’s inspiring me more than words can describe

incredibly thankful for miriam on reaching out to a stranger with the knowledge of my deKalaita name
these last few days since learning all of this i’ve felt such a deep & a awakening sense of connection to this part of my heritage. thirsty to learn more about my DeKalaita name

and you better believe im going to my homeland when the time is right
