FYI: If you test negative for #Covid, you are only negative until you encounter & catch Covid... which could happen the nanosecond AFTER you test negative.

If you tested negative and think that means you can’t CATCH or PASS on #TheRona over the holiday (with nana) you are WRONG.
I heard a dude — who’s now positive — say that he thought he was good after his negative test 2 WEEKS AGO because “the negative lasts for 14 days.”

No.

Tests are not vaccines or cures. They are screening/diagnostic devices that tell you if you’ve got #Covid in👏🏾that👏🏾moment👏🏾.
If you leave a testing site and go have a “safe 🥴 socially-distanced-brunch” w/ a friend who has asymptomatic, undiagnosed #Covid & you both take off your masks to eat & talk & laugh, guess what?

🗣+🦠💦 = YOU 🦠positive & on a plane home, CONFIDENT that you’re negative.
You get home and hug your mom and nana and the little cousins, mask-less, telling each of them that it’s cool because you tested negative 🥴 — not knowing that in 2 or 3 days the COVID infection you NOW HAVE will be spreading among them just as you board your plane back home.
The FALSE sense of security that ONE negative test three days ago brought you will have you reckless at home and at the airport. You may feel so secure that you will be SHOCKED when you get sick once you’re back home. You may even blame your family on your infection.

But nope.
None of this is a dig on tests.

PLEASE get tested.

It’s important to know your status.

But knowing your #Covid status isn’t an inoculation against the virus. It isn’t a vaccine. It’s just a snapshot of a moment in time.

One that can change the NEXT moment.
If you get a negative & then seal yourself inside your house until this is all over, that negative will hold. Lol!

But it is NOT a free pass to travel & brunch & gather. I’ve seen too many people using that as their “get out of pandemic jail” card.
We all miss our family & friends.

And I know it’s Christmas and you may always be with them on Christmas.

But this Christmas is different.

If we all wear masks, wash our hands & stay home this Christmas more of us will live to see NEXT Christmas.

Just saying.

Love y’all!❤️
