we're all clear that monsanto, now owned by the drug company bayer, is evil, right? i don't particularly like to use that word because it's so judgment-laden, but it's appropriate here.
reason 1 - the poison. monsanto developed and patented the glyphosate, the most widely use weed killer in the us. among other things, it causes cancer and contributes to bee loss https://www.sfgate.com/business/article/Monsanto-case-Bay-Area-man-with-cancer-awarded-13147891.php
reason 2 - seed patents which leads to modern sharecropping. in many cases, farmers are forced to buy patented seeds at extreme cost. the patent means that they do not own the resultant plants and thus don't own the profit from selling them

there are mass suicides of farmers in India related to this perpetual debt system https://www.motherjones.com/food/2015/09/no-gmos-didnt-create-indias-farmer-suicide-problem/
reason 4 - decreased biodiversity. by pushing these modified seeds and crops monsanto negatively impacting the entire world's food web and ecosystems. it's literally killing us.
