This vid is great and you should all watch it imo. Fanon & gender is something I think about a lot. Some of my thoughts below https://twitter.com/PersephoneAna/status/1335145257650978818
In BSWM Fanon describes the "zone of non-being" and how when cis men call each other girls, they aren't actually threatening each other with the idea of being a girl, they're threatening them with the idea of being a man-who-is-a-woman, and thereby the zone of non-being
woman/girl, while othered and lessered, is still an accepted identity in the patriarchal model (even though they are essentially nonsense stereotypes that nobody fits) whereas when a man calls a man a girl it's something else. That's why they find trans people so threatening imo
Fanon also writes about how the simple appearance of a black person in white supremacist society is an assault on the senses of white people, because their concept of blackness is so associated with shame that they can't handle a black person simply existing in front of them
Fanon and others following on from Fanon talk about how this "violence" done by simply existing is what precedes racist violence, and I think all of that is extremely comparable to how trans people are treated, ESPECIALLY trans women
in a patriarchal society, the idea of "a man who chooses to be a woman" is a contradiction that can't be reconciled, so the appearance of a transfeminine person does violence to the cispatriarchal mindset
