Did you know you don't need a doctor to refer yourself to free counselling services from Eastern Health? You can Self Refer for counselling by calling 752-8888 and leave your Name/Telephone #/ MCP# and somebody will call you back to get you registered. 1/5
If you need to see a psychiatrist-- you do need a referral from your doctor. However, the counselling services here are different from Doorways (one time walk in service.) If you can't afford counseling but want to try it-- I would encourage you to self refer. 2/5
I received a call from them yesterday because a doctor referred me to see a psychiatrist. While they were asking me routine questions, this program came up and I'd never heard of it being accessible by self referring. I think more people should know. 3/5
This is what it says on http://bridgethegapp.ca , about it, but just want to make sure that people understand they can call and ask for counselling. Sometimes it's not always very clear what is available to us. 4/5
I know how hard it is to fight for yourself. I know how hard it is to go through the questions. I still believe not nearly enough mental healthcare is accessible-especially in rural areas- but what is accessible should be shouted from the mountaintops. 5/5
