(THREAD); Response policing but it’s a thread of muppet gifs:
The controller saying it’ll be a quick job so you take the call and start reading the CAD knowing it’s going to be griefy
Avoiding taking people into kitchens of addresses like the plague
Doing a blue light run, unit on scene cancels you and a car you passed on blue lights pulls up next to you at the next set of traffic lights.
Doing basic self defence two days in the year. “Get back!”
Learning the hard way that some calls will sound like one thing but could actually be something completely different
Making coffee runs a priority otherwise you won’t get another chance during the shift
Always having that one couple on the team who pretend they aren’t in a thing but it’s obvious.
Calling your skipper or safeguarding every 10 minutes for advice
Is it a domestic?
Trying to function in the last two hours of a night duty before rest days
No amount of calls will make up for the lack of a social life thanks to the shift patterns.
To end it on a nice note. Working Christmas Day and other important holidays. Spending time away from your family but more time with your second family 🚓💙
Bonus: Getting assigned to incidents that shouldn’t require a police response (We’re looking at you LAS, love you really) and that we aren’t qualified for... (Some MH calls)
