#Scoop (thread & free article)
@BILD was give exclusive access to email conversations & internal documents of the BSH - the Federal Agency for Maritime Navigation and Hydrography - which is responsible for the #NordStream2 construction permits in Germany’s EEZ by @Umwelthilfe🙏🏼.
The documents prove that a @NordStream2 lawyer intervened in the permission process of the federal agency in October (by email!), turning a formal “change authorization” to continue building the pipeline in December 2020 into an informal “approval” of the company’s application.
As a result of the changed permit character, environmental organizations and other third parties became legally unable to challenge the BSH permit and stop the construction work in December. Something, @ConstZerger of the @Umwelthilfe called “a Christmas present to #NordStream2.
Right now, the BSH still is in the permission process to continue #NordStream2 construction work beyond Dec 31 in Germany’s EEZ.
Environmental organizations challenged this & it’s officially an “open process”.
However, in an email from Dec 3, the agency promised to the German ...
Infrastructure Ministry that #NordStream2 will receive its construction permission before the end of December - which makes the whole process a sham as the decision was already (politically) made, but is not published.
