Thread about why I am more excited about the aftermath of Mha's war arc than the war arc itself (and you should be too) + a bit of reflection on the war arc as a whole
To start off, The OFA cat is 100% coming out of the bag. Deku and All Might were previously able to keep their quirk under wraps with few issues. The only notable mistakes being Bakugo and Tsukauchi
However, now that Shiggy/AFO are attempting to steal OFA (Which only failed the first time cause Shiggy was undercooked), Deku CAN'T hide this anymore for the sake of himself and those who associate with him.
This development seems to have already started to take shape through Endeavor (Love the relationship Deku and Endeavor have btw) Once Deku proved that Shiggy was following him, Endeavor explicitly stated that he wanted to know why and Deku stated that he would tell him later.
So with this in mind, I think the focal point of the aftermath of this war is going to be OFA and its relationship it has with the public because, due to the circumstances, it HAS to change.
Speaking of change, society is soooo fucked. Thanks to Japan's favorite burn victim: Dabi
Due to his little performance, the citizens of Japan are going to lose all respect for their top 2 heroes and their society as a whole. And even if they don't, Skeptic will use FeelGood Inc. to trick them into feeling that way anyway.
This is REALLY BAD for a lot of people but ESPECIALLY for Endeavor and the Todoroki family. Endeavor was on the path of atonement and was doing a lot better as we had seen throughout the Endeavor Agency Arc. However, Dabi being Touya throws a pretty big wrench into things.
Rather than his past being just a family issue, Dabi has made it so Endeavor has to address what he has done publicly. This is going to ruin his life. Plain and simple. His career? Gone. His and his family's privacy? Non-existent. The progress he has made? Doesn't matter anymore.
But yeah, there isn't much to say about Endeavor other than he is in a real tight spot and has a lot to think about. Much like our protagonist Izuku Midoriya
Deku has arguably the most to think about atm (Which is great cause he hasnt been the main focus of an arc since Joint Training). His limbs are likely broken beyond repair, he recently awakened the 4th users quirk, and he can't shake the feeling that his worst enemy needs saving.
These events are going to lead to significant changes in Deku's character most notably in how he views self-sacrifice. During the training flashback, Bakugo states that Deku fights with no regard for his own well being and it concerns him (And likely Deku's other friends as well)
This lack of care for himself when saving others is something he is going to have to face head-on. Not only because his arms are destroyed, but also because he now has a quirk that alerts him of everyone around him that is in danger. He needs to realize he can't save everyone.
This is heavily connected to OFA going public. He needs a support system that knows his secret. Cause if he can't save everyone, he needs to figure out a way that everyone can be saved. And that way is accepting help from his peers. I'm so excited for Deku to have this revelation
There is also the issue of how Deku wants to deal with Shiggy and the PLF. Before Deku witnessed Shiggy in the OFA dreamscape, Deku was very prepared to kill him. However, now that Deku has seen what AFO is doing to him. He realizes it isn't as cut and dry as he once thought
Yes, Shiggy has committed unforgivable acts and should face judgement for those acts. Deku even acknowledges this in chap 295. However, as the 1st user of OFA stated, Deku's drive to save eclipses all common understanding. Deku can't help but feel he should save Shiggy from AFO.
This development is sure to cause a lot of tension between Deku and those close to him. Hell it has already created some tension within the fan-base itself. I'm very excited to see where this goes. There are ways this could go sour but I think Hori knows EXACTLY what he is doing.
I think Bakugo especially would be upset by Deku's desire to aid Shiggy. Speaking of Bakugo, he was awesome this arc. Seeing him show regret for bullying Deku while finally getting an explanation for why he did it was great. And his self sacrificial moment was the cherry on top.
Bakugo's apology is something that I think everyone wants to see and I personally think it will be happening during the aftermath of the current arc. While we are talking about the students, let's talk about Uraraka and Shoto.
Both Uraraka and Shoto had really good parts to play during this arc but I think it's only just beginning for them. Much like Deku, Uraraka is beginning to question her beliefs when it comes to villains.
I think seeing Toga cry is going to send Uraraka to a similar thought process as Deku's current conundrum. "They looked like they needed help, but should I help them?" This may even lead to them confiding in each other at some point down the line to throw the shippers (me) a bone
Shoto on the other hand will be forced to ponder the opposite. We have already seen him try to reach out to Dabi this arc. However, all he got in return was a few more burns. Because of this, I think he will have to ask himself if he is prepared to kill Dabi rather than save him.
And speaking of the villains. They took a phat L huh? If Dabi didn't come in clutch this would be a very obvious loss for them. Shiggy's crew has been reduced to 3 other people (Skeptic, Spinner, and Dabi) due to character deaths and AFO just leaving people behind.
Twice died, Compress isn't far behind, and Toga is about to get left behind by AFO. Not a very good tally for the PLF. Speaking of which Shiggy is going to EXPLODE after he finds out everything he lost. I'm almost happier that he'll find out after the battle is over.
This is NOTHING like what we expected from the villains this arc. Most people expected the villains to destroy the heroes and instead they got washed. However, the villains now have the opportunity to do whatever they want because all of Japan's heroes are likely hospitalized.
I, like many others, am hoping that AFO is planning to attack Tartarus Prison and free himself and many others. This would fit well with All Might planning a meeting with Stain in Tartarus earlier in this arc. Many have theorized that this is where All Might will die so we'll see
Even then the villains are in a position where they could do all sorts of things. Their path is pretty unpredictable atm so who truly knows right?
With all this in mind, there are still SO many questions this war arc has left us with that I haven't mentioned. What's Toga gonna do now that she was abandoned? Will Spinner get a big moment? Are all the heroes at the mansion dead? What about Redestro? Will Machia be contained?
There is also the possibility that UA will get sued for having kids participate in a war. What will happen then? Will Inko lose her trust in All Might? GOD there are SO many questions and this aftermath arc is likely going to begin to answer all of them.
Long story short: This arc has set so many things in motion for the series and the aftermath of it is where we get to see it all start to come together. If you like character interactions like me, it's probably gonna be more exciting than the actual war
