My thoughts on Ravi Zacharias:

/10: I most certainly did not want to believe the allegations surrounding Ravi Zacharias. I have been a fan of his for as long as I remember; I fondly remember listening to him every Sunday as a child riding to church in the car ...
/10: After the statement from RZIM, it seems the allegations are true (the bulk of which dropped earlier this year, with some coming out before then).
/10: I am heartbroken, disappointed, gutted, sickened, and even angry. Whenever theology or apologetics were brought up, my go-to would be to reference Ravi Zacharias. His life was a life dedicated to expanding the Lord’s kingdom.
/10: Too easily our role models become idols. Too easily we forget the sin nature that has plagued humanity from the start. Too easily we elevate our leaders and role models to unrealistic pedestals.
/10: These allegations will forever be an asterisk on the life of an apologist, evangelist, and man of God. Unchecked lust is often a tool of the Enemy (Sampson, David, Solomon come to mind)
/10: My first thought was “are there no good men left in the world to serve God?” but I was reminded of the truth that there are no good man. Jesus Himself said “no man is good, except for the Father.”
/10: We are all sinners. We are all fallen. And sometimes our sin mightily impacts the lives of others in ways that need addressing and atonement. My prayers are with the victims of Ravi’s actions.
/10: These allegations - like all sin, should have been met, addressed, and corrected from the start. But so too like David, Sampson, and Solomon - all mighty men of God - Ravi avoided the uncomfortable process of atonement.
/10: Do I still have respect for Ravi Zacharias? Yes. Am I heartbroken that one of my faith heroes did such damaging and sickening things? Absolutely. But on some level I’m not surprised. We all sin, and that is why Jesus’ sacrifice is so powerful.
/10: Prayers foremost for the victims of Ravi’s actions and their families, prayers for RZIM to continue to let the investigation play out, and prayers for the kingdom of God, that the mission will not fail and the work will not cease
