So this is a lousy Christmas. Sitting at home alone, nearly a year since I've seen a family member. But one thing I'm thinking a lot about is "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." The original lyrics ...
... include a verse that goes, "Someday soon we all will be together, if the Fates allow / Until then, we'll have to muddle through somehow." (Frank Sinatra excised them in favor of something lighter and puffier). But they really resonate this year ...
... And it reminds me that even in "good" years, a lot of people have to muddle through, and a lot of people don't get to see their loved ones, and maybe despite the tinsel and the trappings this is kind of a lonely holiday generally speaking.
So, I guess will end by saying, wherever you are and whatever you celebrate and however you're muddling, I hope you have some peace this weekend.
