There are a lot of similarities between sales and job hunting.

Here are a few that can help you get your dream job faster without a lot of additional work.

Time for a thread 🧵
1. Rapport is a game changer.

We’ve all heard the saying “we hire for cultural fit”.

Use this to your advantage. When you start an interview start with pleasantries, try to spend time creating a bond.

Do research, college, hometown, sports etc are all great connection points.
2. Ask questions to help you

In sales questions are used to help understand client’s needs so you can fit your product into that bucket. Do the same when interviewing

“What are the top characteristics you’re looking for in this role?”

Ask that and fit yourself into the bucket
3. Fill up your pipeline

A successful salesperson always has more deals in their pipeline than they need to hit their number

When looking for jobs you should do the same. If you want one job, interview for 3

This will help you feel less emotionally attached to each opportunity
4. Close!

This is probably the most important out off all of the other tips.

At the end of the interview, ask “Do you have any reservations to hiring me?”

This will help you understand where you stand and help you overcome any last minute hesitation.
5. Bonus

Many people will answer “I have no reservations but this is a group decision”

Respond with “I understand. When the time comes, can I count on your vote?”

Ask every person you interview with these two questions then you should know when you walk out if you have the job
