So I’ve just watched a video about the latest BBC and @jk_rowling issue by a prominent trans YouTuber and... I have issues (so this thread appeared)

“Being trans doesn’t hurt anyone, being transphobic does.” Yes it does, transphobia is an issue that trans people and allies 1/
should be united against. The problem arises when you make an assumption that someone fighting for their right as a sex class is inherently transphobic. It is not. Just because women are standing up and speaking about issues specific to female bodies does not make this 2/
transphobic. Women have the right to do so, in the same way that a trans woman has the right to speak about and campaign for issues that solely concern them. Trans women adopting the attitude that because they are not included in a conversation about ovaries 3/
or cervix cancer and therefore these conversations must be shut down is sexist and misogynistic. Trans men saying they are left out of marketing designed for period products or the discussion about pregnancy is ludicrous. Dysphoria, the diagnosable condition that preludes 4/
the choice to transition causes these topics to be sensitive areas, so why fight for inclusion in a sex class you want to be as far away from as possible. Yes we can not change our biology but we can treat dysphoria with cosmetic surgeries and hormones at a stage where we can 5/
make a full informed choice. Empowerment of who we each are and using that power to drive forward society in a way for all to live in harmony while rights of each individual do not supersede nor quash those of any other surely is a mutual endeavour. The phrase trans rights 6/
and human rights gets plastered around all the time, well so are women’s rights, so are children’s rights, so are the rights of every single last one of us. The conversation should be about how we can help each other to our goals and not how we can infringe on the rights of 7/
others, how we can lift up each group to show their potential in this world not push each other down to the lowest common denominator. Feminism does exclude trans women because it is transphobic, feminism includes trans men as we face many of the same issues. Transphobia in 8/
its current over used state means as little as disagreeing with someone is meaningless. This tweet is in no way transphobic. It points out issues, it speaks from personal experience and thoughts based on my own observations. It’s is not cited as life and ones experience 9/
of it does not come with citations. All in all by constantly stating W dry thing is transphobic all that is happening is the wider world who would not have an opinion suddenly look at us and think well this lot are just 10/
playing the trans card, and playing to the politically correct nature that everything seem to adhere to these days.
